The ultimate set up #1: kid’s stand up paddle boarding equipment (summer).

For the first of our ultimate set up features we’re looking at stand up paddle barding equipment that’s bang on for your wee ones. Rather than spotlighting gear for the whole 12 months of the year we’re talking about kit that’s applicable to summertime SUPing. Chances are your offspring won’t be paddling in the depths of winter – although we appreciate some do. In which case great! We have the products for that as well. But here and now we’re keeping warm, high season months in mind.

O’Shea GROM inflatable SUP package.

O’Shea are a brand with a long history in stand up paddle boarding. They’ve been a purveyor of all things inflatable SUP since the beginning and their air boards are top of the pile. Quality manufacturing and materials make for a real high end product.

O’Shea’s GROM QSx is an iSUP designed specifically with children in mind. At 7’10 in length with 29″ inches of width and 135L of volume the dimensions are perfect for younger riders to get into SUP and have a proper experience of the sport. Coming with a three piece adjustable paddle, pump, fin, leash and bag it’s a neat little package that your own groms will adore. The quad stringer technology adds additional rigidity to the GROM but doesn’t affect the price whilst the board’s bright colourway ensures the paddler will be seen – a nifty little safety feature.

All in it’s a great package for your little rippers.

NCW kids 3.5mm full length wetsuits.

New for summer 2021 the NCW kids 3.5mm full length wetsuits are durable, versatile and warm for balmier weather/water scenarios. For young paddlers they’re a great choice as the suit will fend off windchill while paddling but not be so hot that your child’s SUP session becomes uncomfortable.

Features include:

• High quality 3.5mm stretch neoprene throughout the wetsuit.
• Duratex knee pads.
• Flatlock seam construction.
• Finemesh chest panel.
• ‘Hi Vis’ orange neoprene on shoulders so you can see your child in the water.
• Heavy duty back zip with interior zipper inset seam to reduce water flushing.

Panda Boardsports Quick Release Safety SUP leash belt.

SUP safety is a big point of focus currently. With so many new paddlers – often with little to no prior watersports experience – entering the sport having the correct SUP safety equipment is vital to avoid accidents and unfortunate incidents. Even more so with kiddy paddling in mind.

Coming in two models for your offspring the Junior and Junior Hi Viz quick release safety SUP leash belts are the most efficient and safest way to keep connected to your stand up paddle board. Hit the link below for more info.

Julbo kid’s sunglasses.

With summer comes brighter skies, and if we’re lucky abundant sunshine. All of us – kids and adults alike – need decent protection from the sun’s glare. But even more so when out on the water as those UV rays can reflect back at the rider. A decent pair of sunnies is therefore a must.

Julbo sunglasses are high quality eye protectors that have been designed with the outdoors in mind. Part of NCW’s Outdoor Adventure Julbo kid’s sunnies are also applicable to stand up paddle boarding. Check out the models available below, including the girl’s specific Flash Spectron 3.

Kid’s neoprene beach shoes.

Finally, to round out the full banana of what your children will need for stand up paddle boarding this summer, a set of grippy, rubber soled beach shoes will be the go. Easy on and off these neoprene beach shoes will fit general beach roaming antics or SUP alike.

For tiny tootsie protection, you won’t far wrong with a set of these in your kid’s SUP kit box.

If you can’t find what you need for your groms in this article then head over to NCW’s Kid Wetsuits & Kit product page where there’s even more gear. And if you still need a hand then give us a holla.
