Chillier UK weather inbound – time to get your thicker wetsuit sorted!

We talk about the weather a lot at NCW. After all, this is the UK and our conditions are ever changing. A recent blog post talked about the mini Indian Summer we’ve been experiencing in some places. After a blustery start to autumn, Mother Nature saw fit to bowl us some mellower conditions. But that’s all changing as we speak.

A cold front is currently pushing SE across the country bringing chillier weather. And during the weekend may well linger. There’ll also be rain and damper conditions in tandem. Once the rain band passes there’ll be much clearer skies but a much colder feel. Rural areas tonight (Friday 23 Sept, 2022) could dip down to single figures!

A lot of locations – particularly further up country – look like having fine, dry and sunny weather through Saturday and Sunday. But the northerly breeze will take the edge off considerably. It’ll feel much cooler than average for the time of year. This is a trend continuing into next week.

A chilly start to Saturday morning.

Water temperatures – whilst still pretty good – will also start to drop now. In a few weeks our seas, lakes and rivers will be cold. Add to the mix chilly air temperatures and it’ll start to resemble winter more obviously. This is another trend that’ll continue.

All of the above is why you need to start thinking about your water wear. If you haven’t sorted your winter wetsuit gear then you should be giving it some attention. Any old suit that’s not fit for purpose needs to repaired or replaced. The last thing you want is getting caught out when the surf’s pumping and you can’t get wet.

NCW offers a repair service for wetsuits that need some love. If you think this may solve your wetsuit issues then get in touch. Alternatively, we have plenty of wetsuit stock to get you through the off season comfortably. Our 4/3mm wetsuits are currently on sale if something for the shoulder seasons is required. Or check out NCW’s range of 5/3mm wetsuits.

As always if you need a hand with anything get in touch.
