Heatwave surfing. Ride if you can, but stay safe.

Groans abound as we post yet another heatwave update. We’re pretty sure you’re sick of hearing about this. But we know a lot of people will be heading for the coast to cool off. And we appreciate surfing is a great way to make use of sunny, hot conditions and keep chilled.

Currently, there’s a small, clean wave rolling in at NCW’s local beaches. Looking at the webcams and it’s definitely busy. If you’re not already in, or very close by, then we assume parking will become ever more tricky. And being stuck in traffic, trying to get to the beach on days like this aren’t a good idea. Hot cars – especially with how warm it’s forecast to be – will be extremely uncomfortable. There are wider health implications to think of as well. Dehydration and heat exhaustion (or worse) are real risks. Even on the beach! So being cooped up in a vehicle is even worse.

Mellow summer waves are great for cooling off. Just stay safe.

If you can surf today and tomorrow then great. Just stay safe. Don’t take unnecessary risks and put yourself or others in harm’s way. This is summer so ride with a mellow attitude. Slap that sunscreen on, wear a hat and keep hydrated.

NCW has a great range of sunscreen from Lifejacket skin protection for anyone in the area needing some. Check out the website link below or get in touch for more.
