Autumn/winter ain’t that far away… Sorting your NCW off season wetsuits today.

Groans we know but with the UK weather currently as toasty as it is the thoughts of cooler, more autumnal conditions, couldn’t be further from your mind. No doubt. Yet we’re almost halfway through August. And soon summer holidays will be a distant memory. Autumn ain’t that far away. And neither’s winter…

Autumn – the best season for watersports.

Surfers will definitely tell you the best time for sliding sideways on liquid walls is autumn. Beaches and surf spots are quieter, the water’s at its warmest and air temperatures can still be pretty good. In years gone by, we’ve even seen heatwaves during October. High thermometer readings aren’t beyond the realms of possibility. Especially with how bonkers the UK’s weather is.

You’re more likely to score conditions like this in autumn.

It’s not just surfing that autumn’s good for. You tend to get a higher percentage of conditions suitable for other disciplines too. The North Atlantic starts to come back to life as low pressures return after their summer hiatus.

NCW wetsuits for the off season.

We know plenty of riders currently not wearing anything other than boardies and rash vests. These are pretty hardy folks as most will need some rubbery protection, even during the warmest of months. As autumn swings in even the aforementioned tough nuts will start to reapply wetsuit coverage. There may still be warmer days on offer but it’s definitely cooling down and it’d be foolhardy to not suit up.

As it cools further there’s even more necessity for a good quality wetsuit. And if that’s from a UK, homegrown brand like NCW, then all good. North Coast Wetsuits has wetties for those shoulder seasons (autumn/spring) where you mightn’t need s full blown 5/3mm. But if that is your requirement we can sort you out with that too. And don’t forget accessories like boots, gloves and hood. When Jack Frost finally does put in an appearance you’ll be glad you tooled up in advance.

Making the most of summer while it lasts.

If you’re getting amongst the summer conditions on offer at the mo then good on ya! We definitely recommend making the most of high season weather. You mightn’t be getting the most full power conditions (if you’re an advanced rider) but trust us when we say you’ll be wishing these days back as you crack the ice during your winter surf sessions.

Preparing for the coming autumn and winter is a good call as you’ll be well sorted as soon as the off season lands. Check out NCW’s webshop for all those autumn/winter surf essentials. And as always if you have any questions get in touch.
