Wetsuits: we BUY used and repair worn out ones.

Wetsuits are our business. Wetsuits of all types – old and new. Here at NCW we’re super keen to do our bit for the environment as much as possible. The wetsuit industry is a tricky one though. Mainly because of the materials used for wetsuit production. As well as some of the processes. We try and source new, more sustainable materials as much as possible. Issues in the global supply chain, that we’re currently experiencing globally, don’t make this easy. NCW works as hard as possible to be more sustainable and ethical though. So watch out for more initiatives we’re going to implement ASAP.

Wetsuit brand sustainability.

One way to have a more sustainable and eco-friendly company is buying used wetsuits and giving them new life. And/or taking parts of the used suit to help with repairs of other wetties. There may be an opportunity to repair the worn suit in question as well – which we also do. We aren’t aware of any other companies that do this. It’s therefore always worth getting in touch if you have a used wetsuit that could be part exchanged against a new one. Or if you’re looking to get rid of old rubber.

Wetsuit landfill avoidance – as much as we can!

We will add that there’s a limit, in terms of how tatty and worn a wetsuit can be. At some point it’s just not worth anything. Or can’t be repaired. We’ve been offered some seriously ragged wetsuits over the years. In this instance, we’ll take them off you, but not for a fee, rather than see them end up in landfill.

Some 380 metric tons of wetsuits end up in landfills in the United Kingdom every year. … Nevertheless, divers and surfers have no real choice: very effective at keeping out the cold while staying flexible, wetsuits have been made in more or less the same way since they were first invented in the 1950s.

Quote from Google.

A used wetsuit can be the best option.

It may sound odd that a company such as NCW will deal in used wetsuits. But in some cases it’s the best option for everyone. If you have a used, secondhand wetsuit you don’t need any more then get in touch. We may be able to give it a new lease of life thereby helping reduce impact on the environment. Small steps, but hopefully something that contributes overall.
