Outdoor adventure winter – fighting the cold weather blues.

Outdoor adventure this winter is one way to fend off the cold weather blues. We appreciate that for many winter can be a real bummer for getting wet. Cold weather and colder seas can put people off.

As we draw towards the end of October water babies of a fair weather type may be contemplating hanging up their wetsuits until spring. But what to do on land to fill the active voice until then?

Outdoor adventures.

Here at NCW we’re as passionate about the outdoors as we are the ocean. And whatever Mother Nature’s moods there’s always an adventure to be had away from beach. Rambles, hill walks and scrambles up and down dales can be done in all conditions. In some cases, those trails are best tackled when the rain’s pouring. With correct attire the wet weather’s no match and lends a certain wild aesthetic to proceedings. And that beverage, on front of roaring log fire upon completion, can make it all worthwhile.

Winter outdoor adventures don’t need to be quite so extreme, however. It could be as simple as waiting for your window, and heading for a jaunt through the forest. Wellies at the ready a short walk somewhere new, not far from home, can do wonders to reset your head. And kids (generally) love it as well.

The biggest hurdle with winter outdoor adventures on land is pulling yourselves away from the screen. Shorter days and gloomy, low light aren’t always enticing – we get that. But with enough warm layered clothing (make sure it’s dry before you pull on!) the elements are no match.

Skateboards and bikes.

It’s no secret we love a roll round on a skateboard when away from The Rubber Shack. NCW comes from the era skateboarding started. Even a quick sesh on the tarmac can be fun.

Not everyone wants to rip and tear on street skate decks though. In which case there’s always the longboard cruising option. And don’t forget, these days electric skateboards, one wheels and such give a different vibe to the skating feel. And possibly may be more preferable. We know a good many riders who love to eSkate.

Bikes are another option for making the most of winter days. Of course, there’s the road biking and mountain biking choices. Coupled with BMX. Or, as with skating, go the electric route for assisted peddles.

This winter there’s plenty of opportunity for outdoor adventures onboard, on bike or on foot. It mightn’t be the watery kind but can be no less fulfilling.
