Whilst NCW does stock and sell third party products it’s our own NCW wetsuits which we put a lot of work into. They may be manufactured overseas but all North Coast Wetsuits are designed and tested in the UK. We know what makes a good wetsuit and how to get working for a whole plethora of watersports scenarios you’ll find in this neck of the woods.
One such application is the new school sport of wing foiling. We’re fortunate to have access to riders who are well advanced within the discipline and can therefore put NCW prototype wetsuit products through their paces wingin’.
Wing foiling’s unique in the biomechanics of how to perform it. There’s a lot of scrambling up onto the board’s deck, where elbow and chest panels of wetsuits get impacted quite a bit. Then there’s the knee start which requires tough wetty material, positioned in the correct places, to cope with this. On top wingsurfers tend to brush up against that ‘sushi knife’ protruding from the board’s hull (foil) so a wetsuit that can protect against accidental contact with foil wings is worth every penny!
