NCW featured product spotlight: Tahe Techno freeride windsurfing boards.

Having rebranded from BIC to Tahe Marine (a subsidiary of Tahe Outdoors) it’s safe to say that windsurfers have been a little confused of late when it comes to Techno windsurfing boards. Where has the iconic French brand gone? Has to beloved Techno windsurfing board range disappeared?

Rebranding’s always a tricky prospect – especially when you’re talking about such a long standing company whose equipment is embedded in the watersports community’s psyche. The fact is, however, that whilst names may change the actual physical piece of gear itself (certainly in terms of the Techno line) remains. What was before is still as is now…

BIC Techno windsurfing boards – or rather Tahe Techno windsurf boards – have always stood for easy, accessible freeride. The brand’s ACE-TEC construction (which also remains intact) is suitably robust and able to brush of knocks and scrapes. The kind of general use wear and tear that sees some windsurf boards ding and hole all too easily.

On the water Tahe Techno windsurf boards offer a fun experience, are able to make best use of often lacklustre conditions we see in the UK (especially during summer – although the off season can be just as frustrating for wind sometimes) and basically deliver fulfillment. Techno boards aren’t just ragged condition windsurf sleds though. When Mother Nature sees fit to deliver a decent forecast they can step up to the plate and perform admirably. And all with family friendly focus. Tahe have committed to being the go to family windsurfing brand with a large dollop of kiddy windsurfing thrown in for good measure.

It’s not just traditional windsurfing either. Tahe now offer the Techno Wind Foil 130L and 160L windfoil boards (available through NCW’s sister company Foilshop UK). These, just as with standard Techno boards, are accessible flight machines that can be taken right up to advanced level.

All in the Techno range of windsurf boards hasn’t gone anywhere (in case you were wondering) and still delivers upon their promise of fun times afloat at a cost that won’t break the bank. IF you’re a freeride windsurfer (we all are really!) then you’d do a lot worse having one of these babies in your quiver. Beginners, intermediates and advanced sailors all welcome!
