The right fitting NCW wetsuit for the right watersport…

Different activities require different pieces of equipment – that much is obvious. Yet, when we say this your initial thought may be the actual gear to do the ‘thing’ rather than peripheral kit like your wetsuit.

Take stand up paddle boarding for instance. We get a lot of questions and queries about wetsuits for SUP. Wetsuits for stand up are all well and good but the fit is important. And keeping your most paddled environment in mind is also key.

For instance: if you’re predominantly paddling on flat water, with little to no water moving, and not falling then you’ll probably be better off in garments like NCW strides/leggings and a thermal rashvest. If you’re taking dunkings often then perhaps a wetsuit would be better. But you’ll only need a summer type rather than full on 5/3mm Gulf Stream steamer. And then, keeping actual fit in mind, a little looser is a good idea. This so you can have full freedom of movement with your upper body. Paddling, after all, requires this.

If you’re a stand up paddle surfer, frequenting wave venues, something tighter that’ll stop water flush when you bail is a good idea. The fit of your wetsuit therefore needs more of a tailored approach.

In a nutshell, if you’re after a wetsuit or wetsuit apparel – such as strides and thermal rashvest for flat water paddling – the best advice is to give us a call and discuss your wants/ needs. That way we’ll be able to advise you accordingly.
